Original Membership - 1928
Mr. Sanders A Wertheim donated a used Studebaker Laundry Trucks that was converted at his expense for squad use. It was purchased from the Studebaker dealership of Louis F. Lipsey, whose place of business was at what is now the rear of the Asbury Park Post Office, Asbury Park New Jersey 07712.
After acquiring the ambulance, the following people either promoted or campaigned for the fund to get the squad formed into a complete unit; Harold Shannon, Charles Robinson, Robert Sinclair, Ralph Dangler, Richard Garrity, Dr. Franklin Wilbur and Owen McNabb. Also as Honorary Members were Mrs. John F. Jackson Sr., and Mrs. Frank Mooney.
On August 12,1929 the first official meeting of the Wanamassa Group was held. The following officers were elected. Robert McGrath ? Captain, Edward Fitzmaurice ? Treasurer., and John F. Jackson Jr. ? Secretary. Mr. William Johntry was then formally accepted as the Squad instructor and later became Captain of the Squad in 1930. Sanders Wertheim was made a Honoray Member along with Mrs. John F. Jackson Sr. and Mrs Frank Mooney.
